How do you pressure the pusher and beat the tennis lob?
When playing against pushers (defensive players), great players often lose games/ matches that they should be winning. A main reason for this is that pushers tend to continuously lift the ball to make time for themselves. This causes their opponents to lose their rhythm, be thrown off balance and therefore not be able to execute their point effectively.
A great tennis strategy to handle pushers is to take time away from (pressure) them by hitting the ball when it is higher than the net, and attacking them with that strategy, as the video demonstrates. You don’t have to lose to pushers, just be aware of whether the ball is above or below the net.
To practice this stategy, have your friend or practice partner feed you high balls/lobs and train your eyes to recognize when the contact point is above the net and what to do with it. These instincts will kick in during your matches and you’ll be able to beat the tennis lob!
