Game Style as Tennis Strategy

In order to have good tennis singles strategies, you need to know what your game style is and then perfect it. The best tennis strategy is to respect and utilize your own strengths! Your game style comes from both your shot selection and from your  personality.

Each style has its own tennis singles tactics:

1. The Counter Puncher, or, Defensive Specialist (example: Wozniacki)

This player stays behind the baseline, and is extrememly steady and consistent. They often win matches in the third set – the longer the match, the better they do. They are great under pressure and very fit.

2. The Offensive Baseliner (example: Serena)

This player has at least one big, powerful groundstroke, and often a good, big serve. They win points from the baseline or from just in front of it. They don’t like coming to the net – they don’t know what to do when they get there or even HOW to get there.

3. The All Courter (example: Stosur)

This player is comfortable at the baseline and can also come in to the net. They can win from both the back and the front!

The most important thing for you is to define your own game style, so you can perfect and respect it. Once you do that you can add in other shots, but first, remember that the best tennis strategy is to know and use your own strengths!
