In soccer or basketball, there’s really only one way to score a point. In tennis, on the other hand, there are three. We have winners, forced errors and unforced errors. Beginner players look to score winners all the time, but an in-depth look at professional tennis shows us that we should really go after forced errors. In professional tennis, over 60% of points come from forced errors – when you can learn to play this way, winners will come naturally, almost by accident. When you change the way you play your game (and focus on your opponent’s game as well), you can develop a clean technique that will get you more points and allow you more energy and endurance as you play.
